Taking the driving test as an independent candidate
Are you a driving school?+
No. ICI C'EST PERMIS hires out dual-control vehicles without a driver. We provide no driving tuition and enter nobody for the test: you register yourself, as an independent candidate (candidat libre), through your ANTS account on the French licensing portal.
Can I take the test in your car?+
Yes, that is exactly what the exam package is for. Our vehicles are fitted with dual controls and with the mirrors required for the practical permis B test, and we provide the accompanying driver who must be present.
How do I register for the test?+
You register on the ANTS website: you open an account, obtain a NEPH number (French candidate registration number), then book an exam slot. If the process looks complicated, we can go through it with you as an option when you book.
What is the difference between the permis B and the permis B78?+
The permis B is taken in a car with a manual gearbox and allows you to drive any light vehicle. The permis B78 is taken in an automatic and only allows you to drive automatics. Our Peugeot 208 and Renault Clio 5 prepare you for the permis B; Citroën ë-C3 and Tesla Model Y prepare you for the B78.
The rental
Who can rent a vehicle?+
Anyone aged 18 or over, with proof of identity, proof of address and a bank card in their own name. The vehicle may only be driven with someone who has held a category B licence (permis B) for more than 5 years on board, whom you bring along or we provide.
Can I drive the vehicle on my own?+
No. A candidate who does not hold a licence may only drive accompanied. This is a condition of our contract and of our insurance policy alike: driving alone voids cover and leaves the hirer fully liable.
How many kilometres are included?+
100 km per rental day, 50 km on an exam package or an hourly slot. Beyond that, each kilometre is charged at €0.35.
Where do I pick the car up?+
From our branch in Villemomble, free of charge. We can also deliver and collect the vehicle at your address or outside your test centre, anywhere in Île-de-France, from €29. See the zones and rates.
Insurance, deposit and payment
Is the vehicle insured?+
Yes. All our vehicles are covered by comprehensive insurance including 0 km roadside assistance, included in the price shown. In the event of an at-fault claim, an excess remains payable by you.
How much is the excess?+
From €800 on city cars to €2,500 on premium vehicles. You can halve it with the Peace of mind option, or bring it down to €0 with the Zero worries option, when you book.
Is the deposit charged?+
No. It is a card pre-authorisation, taken at pick-up and released when the vehicle is returned if no damage is found. It ranges from €800 to €2,500 depending on the vehicle.
When and how do I pay?+
Payment is made online when you order, on a secure SumUp payment page: bank card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The amount due and your order reference are shown just beforehand, and you receive an invoice.
And what if the vehicle turns out not to be available?+
We check availability as soon as your order reaches us and confirm within 24 h. In the rare event that the vehicle you asked for is not free on your date, we offer you an equivalent vehicle or another date, and failing that we refund you in full.
Can I cancel?+
Yes, free of charge up to 48 h before pick-up. After that, 50 % of the amount is retained. If it is the authorities who postpone your test, the booking is moved at no charge on production of the evidence.
An exam date to keep?
Tell us the date, the time and the centre: we confirm that the vehicle is free the same day.
